Icicles on the Bird Feeder

If you look real carefully on the top right side of the bird feeder you can see little icicles. They are longer today.

Br-r-r it does look cold! Looks as if your suet feeder and seed feeder have been emptied by very hungry birds. Suet is the most crucial to help the birds survive the cold--woodpeckers, Eastern bluebirds, chickadees, titmice, and nuthatches among others need the high calories. I have found the hot pepper year-around suet the best--the squirrels do not like it and they leave it for the birds. I can't use peanut butter or other suets because the squirrels will demolish the food before the birds have a chance. I have also had racoons steal a suet feeder like you have when it was filled with peanut butter suet.

Hey, your squirrels' cousins live here in Pine! They take down at least one feeder each night, if I forget to take them inside!
